about heartvue

Building the future of cardiovascular imaging

Heartvue.AI is on a mission to make advanced cardiac imaging analysis accessible, consistent, and efficient for every health system — powered by clinically validated artificial intelligence.

our story

Born from a clinical need

Heartvue was founded by a team of cardiologists, imaging specialists, and AI engineers who saw firsthand how manual workflows were limiting the potential of cardiovascular imaging programs.

Too many studies were bottlenecked by manual post-processing. Too many reports lacked consistency. Too much revenue was left on the table due to documentation gaps. We built Heartvue to solve these problems: AI that works the way clinicians think.

Today, Heartvue.Proton and Heartvue.Echo are trusted by leading health systems across the country to deliver faster analysis, more consistent reporting, and stronger financial performance.

leadership

The team behind Heartvue

A multidisciplinary team of clinicians, engineers, and healthcare leaders building AI that works for cardiovascular imaging.

Jeffrey M. Dendy, M.D.

Chief Executive Officer

Dr. Dendy has spent his career at the intersection of engineering and the heart. After earning his Biomedical Engineering degree from Vanderbilt, he stayed for medical school, residency, cardiology fellowship, and a dedicated cardiac MRI imaging fellowship. Over two decades in advanced imaging followed, including nearly a decade as Medical Director of Cardiovascular Imaging at Prisma Health. Now back at Vanderbilt as Assistant Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine, his research spans myocardial tissue oxygenation and novel MRI techniques, with publications in JAMA, Circulation, and The Lancet. He also serves on the CDC's Clinical Immunization Safety Assessment Team. Jeff founded Heartvue.AI to bring that experience full circle: AI tools built by a cardiologist who has read the scans, felt the bottlenecks, and knows what clinicians actually need.

Stephen Damon

Chief Technical Officer

Steve brings over two decades of experience building and scaling high-performance technical infrastructure across healthcare and media. Before co-founding Heartvue.AI with Dr. Dendy, he served as Director at iHeartRadio, where he led the technical development and complete rebuild of the music ingestion platform — reducing content processing times from 24 hours to minutes. His deep expertise in reverse-engineering EHR platforms has driven cost-efficient, ROI-focused compliant storage solutions for healthcare organizations. Steve also spent nearly a decade at Vanderbilt University, where he supported multi-modal MRI image processing infrastructure, giving him a strong foundation at the intersection of engineering and clinical imaging.

Tye Shanklin

Lead Software Engineer

Tye is a lead software engineer with multiple years of experience developing front-end and back-end applications and performing data analysis. He was born and raised in Nashville, TN and graduated from Vanderbilt in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in computer science and applied mathematics. In his free time, he coaches Vanderbilt's rowing team and plays video games.

our values

What drives us

Clinical first

Every feature we build starts with a clinical need. Our workflow is designed by clinicians, for clinicians. Fewer mouse clicks and lightning fast results.

Evidence-driven

We validate rigorously. Our algorithms are tested against real-world clinical data and held to the highest standards of accuracy and reliability.

Integrity in everything

We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards:  how we build our technology, how we represent our results, and how we engage with the clinicians and health systems who trust us. Transparency, honesty, and accountability aren't aspirational values for us. They're non-negotiable.
